“We are encouraged by the progress we are seeing in the lives of these disciples, as they
are gaining a stronger foundation in their understanding of who God is and what it means
to be his disciples. This foundation and the work of the Holy Spirit is beginning to take the
lead in their lives, enabling them to discover areas of their lives that need to change.
Already a few of these participants show great potential for leadership”, shares Ammer, a
Christian leader and teacher, after a training seminar, organized by Open Doors.
The discipleship training is meant for men and women from Northern Arabia (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan), between the ages of 20-35. Ten churches from five different denominations were represented in this school, as well as two ethnic groups. The content of the lessons included ‘Spiritual Warfare’, ‘the Role of the Word of God in the Life of a Believer’, and ‘Not I But Christ’. The program included lectures, interactive discussion and application of the lectures and small groups.
Ammer shares one testimony from the training: “One young lady was in a relationship with a Muslim man before attending the school. When she heard the teaching about love for the world versus love for the Lord, however, she realized this relationship was wrong. She did a confession and made a decision to break off this relationship. She even adjusted her college class schedule in order not to have contact with him. Another young man, who attended the training, owns a shop and admitted to dishonesty in his business dealings. He repented for cheating and lying and made a decision to practice honesty before God in his business. These are great examples of how the Holy Spirit can work in the hearts of people.”
“Please continue to pray for the Christians in Northern Arabia, in countries like Lebanon, Syria and Jordan”, tells Ammer. “We need pray for growth and unity among the different churches. Also pray for a new generation of strong disciples to be raised up in the local Church. Pray for the Arab Christians who attended the school, that they will continue to follow Christ and to be his witness in the Arab World.”
